Working Hand In Hand In The Communities

Touched by The Hand of God / and R. Aleman and his son Raymond Aleman Jr. are here to bring together families, communities and professionals to collaboratively build partnerships that meet individual and community needs.

Many communities adequate housing is needed to improve the quality of life of many residents. Realizing folks in the neighborhoods did not have the financial resources or physical stamina to do the minor work on their homes that needed to be done. Many of our neighbors many years ago bought their home, invested in the community and had jobs, now because of old age, disability, death of loved one, lost a job, low-income, can not afford to keep it up.

Touched by The Hand of God, Ramon Aleman and his son Raymond Aleman Jr. believe when Pastors in the communities go out into their own communities to check the needs and together with the community can collaborate on how to meet those needs.

History of Ramon Aleman (World War II Veteran / retired with 34 years at Reynolds Metal Co.) and his son Raymond Aleman Jr. in the mid 80's

The neighborhood had a once a month community meeting. Ramon Aleman Sr. and his son Raymond decided to have a community block barbecue. Many people throughout the community were invited along with several of our civic leaders. The most noticeable guest was Mayor Mary Rhodes and her assistant. For several years Ramon and his son along with several neighbors had tried unsuccessfully to get lights on the streets leading to the Sam Houston Elementary School. For the Aleman family along with many of their neighbors, not having lights for their children to walk to and from school was a serious problem. There were many PTA meetings held in the evening and many of the parents would walk to the school at night. This posed a serious threat to the parents and children who walked to these events in the dark of night. The years past and still the streets were dark. The barbecue had attracted many people. As most of the guest enjoyed the barbecue basted in Raymond's special secret barbecue sauce, Ramon and his son asked the Mayor if she would take a walk with them. She agreed and they walked down the street towards the elementary school. At the end of the block and within a block of the school Ramon and his son asked her what did she see? “I do not know, what do you mean,” she replied. Ramon said “when you and your assistant arrived it was not dark yet and now two hours later it is dark. What do you see? Mayor Rhodes understood then and answered “Nothing it is too dark”. Ramon then asked the mayor to walk one more block with them towards the elementary school. When they arrived, Raymond Jr. told her that the school children and the parents were frightened to walk to school because it was so dark. They were afraid of someone harming them. Raymond asked her “How do you feel Ms. Mayor?” She responded “I will make sure we get lights for the street”. Walking back to the Aleman home she asked her assistant to make a note to get someone to make an assessment of how many lights would be needed for the streets going toward the school. Ramon and his son figured they would get a couple lights. Two weeks later lights were being installed. Two lights going toward the school and many more lights located throughout the whole neighborhood.   The Rest Is History.
